SCULPTING MOVEMENT:   NEW DANCE AT SQUID FARM

JULY 11, 12, 13, 14

FOUR DAY INTENSIVE!

WORKSHOP in MODERN TECHNIQUE and COMPOSITION

Four day workshop culminating in an open studio performance at LIFEDANCE STUDIO at SQUID FARM, a 17-acre sculpture, dance and art center run by sculptor Ken Hiratsuka and choreographer Gloria McLean.

The focus of this workshop is the metaphorical and actual relationship between

DANCE and SCULPTURE.

Artists MCLEAN & HIRATSUKA will share  their unique collaboration "ONELINE LIFEDANCE"

of performance works involving dance & sculpture in different ways.

We will work to create fresh choreographic inventions using the skills of composition and the inventions of site-specific and musical relationships.  Participants will develop choreographic material of their own as well as join in to group structures.

We will be joined by Musician/composer MARSHALL COID

and percussionist MICHAEL SUCHORSKY

along with special guest dance artists TBA

Workshop participants will show the results in a  new evening of dance with sculpture, open to local audience.

You will also have time to explore the beautiful landscape of Squid Farm located in the Catskill Mountains, and the Ken Hiratsuka Sculpture Garden. Make a dance there! Or at the Pond! or even in the Barn! As well as the Studio!
